RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The adsorption of activated charcoal is currently a major clinical treatment for acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning (AOPP). However, the adsorption duration and efficiency of this method is unstable. OBJECTIVE: In this study, a hydrogel embedding activated charcoal was prepared and its alleviating effects on AOPP were investigated. METHODS: A composite hydrogel using sodium alginate and polyvinyl alcohol (SA-PVA) hydrogel was prepared in this study. The structural properties of the SA-PVA hydrogel were characterized via multiple analysis including FTIR, TGA, XRD, SEM, tensile strength and expansion rate. Based on these, activated charcoal (AC) was embedded within the SA-PVA hydrogel (SA-PVA-AC) and it was used for the treatment of AOPP. RESULTS: Structural characterization indicated SA-PVA hydrogel possesses excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. The in vivo study demonstrated that SA-PVA-AC significantly alleviated the inflammation and oxidative damage in the liver, as evidenced by reduced levels of IL-6, TNF-α, and, IL-1ß, SOD, and MDA. Furthermore, SA-PVA-AC treatment effectively re-regulated the activities of serum AST and ALT, exhibiting an improved effect on liver function. CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that activated charcoal embedded within SA-PVA hydrogel has significant potential as a therapeutic agent in treating AOPP, and offering a novel approach to managing pesticide-induced toxicity.

RESUMO

Active matter systems, which convert internal chemical energy or energy from the environment into directed motion, are ubiquitous in nature and exhibit a range of emerging non-equilibrium behaviors. However, most of the current works on active matter have been devoted to particles, and the study of active polymers has only recently come into the spotlight due to their prevalence within living organisms. The intricate interplay between activity and conformational degrees of freedom gives rise to novel structural and dynamical behaviors of active polymers. Research in active polymers remarkably broadens diverse concepts of polymer physics, such as molecular architecture, dynamics, scaling and so on, which is of significant importance for the development of new polymer materials with unique performance. Furthermore, active polymers are often found in strongly interacting and crowded systems and in complex environments, so that the understanding of this behavior is essential for future developments of novel polymer-based biomaterials. This review thereby focuses on the study of active polymers in complex and crowded environments, and aims to provide insights into the fundamental physics underlying the adaptive and collective behaviors far from equilibrium, as well as the open challenges that the field is currently facing.

RESUMO

CD7-targeted chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has shown promising initial complete remission (CR) rates in patients with refractory or relapsed (r/r) T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-ALL/LBL). To enhance the remission duration, consolidation with allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is considered. Our study delved into the outcomes of 34 patients with r/r T-ALL/LBL who underwent allo-HSCT after achieving CR with autologous CD7 CAR-T therapy. These were compared with 124 consecutive T-ALL/LBL patients who received allo-HSCT in CR following chemotherapy. The study revealed that both the CAR-T and chemotherapy cohorts exhibited comparable 2-year overall survival (OS) (61.9% [95% CI, 44.1-78.1] vs. 67.6% [95% CI, 57.5-76.9], p = 0.210), leukaemia-free survival (LFS) (62.3% [95% CI, 44.6-78.4] vs. 62.0% [95% CI, 51.8-71.7], p = 0.548), non-relapse mortality (NRM) rates (32.0% [95% CI, 19.0-54.0] vs. 25.3% [95% CI, 17.9-35.8], p = 0.288) and relapse incidence rates (8.8% [95% CI, 3.0-26.0] vs. 15.8% [95% CI, 9.8-25.2], p = 0.557). Patients aged ≤14 in the CD7 CAR-T group achieved high 2-year OS and LFS rates of 87.5%. Our study indicates that CD7 CAR-T therapy followed by allo-HSCT is not only effective and safe for r/r T-ALL/LBL patients but also on par with the outcomes of those achieving CR through chemotherapy, without increasing NRM.

RESUMO

Dialdehyde starch modified by 2-hydrazinopyridine (HYD-DAS) based on the reaction of dialdehyde starch (DAS) and 2-hydrazinopyridine was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectra, element analysis and SEM. HYD-DAS can efficiently adsorb Cu (II) ion to demonstrate visual color changes from yellow to dark brown in aqueous solutions. The influence on HYD-DAS to Cu (II) adsorption including pH value of solution, isotherm, kinetics, thermodynamics and possible mechanism had also been examined. Batch experiments indicate that HYD-DAS's to Cu (II) adsorption reaches equilibrium within 250 min, and its adsorption capacity and rate are 195.75 mg/g and 98.63 %, respectively. Moreover, HYD-DAS to Cu (II) adsorption remains robust and underscoring after five cycles to exhibit good selectivity and reusability. Kinetics studies suggest the absorption process follows a quasi-second-order with isotherms aligning to the Langmuir monolayer model, and thermodynamics reveals that it is a spontaneous endothermic nature of adsorption. Based on the analyses of XPS and DFT calculations, a possible mechanism for HYD-DAS to Cu (II) adsorption is that Cu (II) combined with nitrogen atoms from Schiff base and hydrazine pyridine ring in HYD-DAS.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Schizophrenia is one of the leading causes of disability. Paliperidone palmitate once-monthly injection (PP1M) was developed to provide consistent drug delivery and improve medication adherence for maintenance treatment. It is well known that patients with schizophrenia have higher cardiovascular risks, however little is known about the cardiovascular risks of patients with schizophrenia treated with PP1M in Asia. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to estimate the incidence of cardiovascular events after initiating PP1M treatment and evaluate the cardiovascular risk associations compared with oral second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs). METHODS: Data from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database were used to identify a cohort of adult patients with schizophrenia who received any SGAs from 1 March 2012 to 31 December 2018. Patients who initiated PP1M treatment were enrolled for descriptive analysis of incidence rates. PP1M patients were propensity matched 1:1 to patients initiating a new oral SGA, for comparative analysis based on demographics, clinical characteristics and treatment history at baseline, in three-step matching procedures, following the prevalent new-user design to enhance comparability. Follow-up ended at the end of the treatment episode of index drug, death, last record available, or end of the study (31 December 2019). Study endpoints included serious cardiovascular events (including severe ventricular arrhythmia and sudden death), expanded serious cardiovascular events (which further included acute myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke), and cardiovascular hospitalizations. Risks of study endpoints between matched cohorts were compared using Cox regression. RESULTS: Overall, 11,023 patients initiating PP1M treatment were identified (49.5% were females; mean age of 43.2 [12.2] years). Overall incidences for serious cardiovascular events, expanded serious cardiovascular events, and cardiovascular hospitalizations were 3.92, 7.88 and 51.96 per 1000 person-years, respectively. In matched cohort analysis (N = 10,115), the hazard ratios (HRs) between initiating PP1M and a new oral SGA for serious cardiovascular events, expanded serious cardiovascular events, and cardiovascular hospitalizations were 0.86 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.55-1.36), 0.88 (95% CI 0.63-1.21), and 0.78 (95% CI 0.69-0.89), respectively. CONCLUSION: This study reported the population-based incidence of cardiovascular events in schizophrenic patients initiating PP1M treatment. PP1M was not associated with increased risks of serious cardiovascular events but was potentially associated with lower risks of cardiovascular hospitalizations compared with oral SGAs.

RESUMO

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by infection, with high morbidity and mortality. Sepsis-induced liver injury(SILI) is one of the manifestations of sepsis-induced multiple organ syndrome. At present, there is no recommended pharmacological intervention for the treatment of SILI. traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), based on the holism and dialectical treatment concept, shows the therapeutic characteristics of multi-target and multi-pathway and can comprehensively prevent and treat SILI by interfering with inflammatory factors, inflammatory signaling pathways, and anti-oxidative stress and inhibiting apoptosis. This article reviewed the experimental studies on the treatment of SILI with TCM to clarify its pathogenic mechanism and therapeutic characteristics, so as to provide more ideas and directions for the development or preparation of new drugs.

RESUMO

The pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is extremely intricate, which makes AD patients almost incurable. Recent studies have demonstrated that analyzing multi-modal data can offer a comprehensive perspective on the different stages of AD progression, which is beneficial for early diagnosis of AD. In this paper, we propose a deep self-reconstruction fusion similarity hashing (DS-FSH) method to effectively capture the AD-related biomarkers from the multi-modal data and leverage them to diagnose AD. Given that most existing methods ignore the topological structure of the data, a deep self-reconstruction model based on random walk graph regularization is designed to reconstruct the multi-modal data, thereby learning the nonlinear relationship between samples. Additionally, a fused similarity hash based on anchor graph is proposed to generate discriminative binary hash codes for multi-modal reconstructed data. This allows sample fused similarity to be effectively modeled by a fusion similarity matrix based on anchor graph while modal correlation can be approximated by Hamming distance. Especially, extracted features from the multi-modal data are classified using deep sparse autoencoders classifier. Finally, experiments conduct on the AD Neuroimaging Initiative database show that DS-FSH outperforms comparable methods of AD classification. To conclude, DS-FSH identifies multi-modal features closely associated with AD, which are expected to contribute significantly to understanding of the pathogenesis of AD.

RESUMO

The enhanced Coulomb interaction in two-dimensional semiconductors leads to tightly bound electron-hole pairs known as excitons. The large binding energy of excitons enables the formation of Rydberg excitons with high principal quantum numbers (n), analogous to Rydberg atoms. Rydberg excitons possess strong interactions among themselves as well as sensitive responses to external stimuli. Here, we probe Rydberg exciton resonances through photocurrent spectroscopy in a monolayer WSe2 p-n junction formed by a split-gate geometry. We show that an external in-plane electric field not only induces a large Stark shift of Rydberg excitons up to quantum principal number 3 but also mixes different orbitals and brightens otherwise dark states such as 3p and 3d. Our study provides an exciting platform for engineering Rydberg excitons for new quantum states and quantum sensing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although obesity and heart rate (HR) were closely related to the prevalence and development of type 2 diabetes mllitus (T2DM), few studies have shown a co-association effect of them on T2DM. We aimed at assessing the interactive effects of HR and obesity with prevalence of T2DM in Chinese population, providing the exact cutpoint of the risk threshold for blood glucose with high HR. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In the Risk Evaluation of cAncers in Chinese diabeTic Individuals: a lONgitudinal study (REACTION) cohorts (N = 8398), the relationship between HR and T2DM was explored by linear regression, logistic regression, and restricted cubic spline, and odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Interaction terms between HR and body mass index (BMI) and HR and waist circumference (WC) were introduced into the logistic regression model. RESULTS: In those with HR > 88.0 beats/min, fasting plasma glucose and oral glucose tolerance tests were significantly correlated with HR, and the prevalence of T2DM was highly correlated with HR (all p < .05). There were interactive associations of HR and obesity in patients with T2DM with HR < 74 beats/min. CONCLUSION: High HR was in interaction with obesity, associating with prevalence of T2DM. The newly subdivided risk threshold for HR with T2DM might be HR > 88 beats/minute.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The Hospital Consultants' Job Stress Questionnaire (HCJSQ) has been widely used to assess sources and levels of job stress. However, its reliability and validity among Chinese dental workers have not been extensively studied. The objective of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of the HCJSQ specifically in Chinese dental workers. METHODS: The HCJSQ was used to explore the sources and the global ratings of job stress among Chinese dental workers. To assess the reliability and validity of the HCJSQ, various statistical measures were employed, including Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Spearman-Brown coefficient, Spearman correlation coefficient, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. RESULTS: Of the participants, 526 (17.4%) reported high levels of stress, while 1,246 (41.3%) and 1,248 (41.3%) reported moderate and low levels of stress, respectively. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the modified HCJSQ was 0.903, and the Spearman-Brown coefficient was 0.904. Spearman correlation coefficient between individuals' items and the total score ranged from 0.438 to 0.785 (p < 0.05). Exploratory factor analysis revealed that three factors accounted for 60.243% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated factor loadings between 0.624 and 0.834 on the specified items. The fit indices of the confirmatory factor analysis indicated good model fit, with a Root Mean Square Error of Approximation of 0.064, Normative Fit Index of 0.937, Comparative Fit Index of 0.952, Incremental Fit Index of 0.952, Tucker-Lewis index of 0.941, and Goodness of Fit Index of 0.944. Additionally, the convergent validity and discriminant validity showed a good fit for the three-factor model. CONCLUSION: The results of this study confirm that Chinese dental workers experience high levels of stress, and the three-factor model of the HCJSQ proves to be a suitable instrument for evaluating the sources and levels of job stress among Chinese dental workers. Therefore, it is imperative that relevant entities such as hospitals, medical associations, and government take appropriate measures to address the existing situation.

RESUMO

Pulchinenoside B4, a natural saponin monomer from the Pulsatilla plant, plays an important role as an immunomodulator in the treatment of acute inflammation. Oral ulcer (OU) is a common ulcerative injury disease that occurs in the oral mucosa, including mucosal ulceration and abnormalities of lips and tongue. A close correlation exists between gut microbiota and circulating metabolites in patients with OU. However, the correlation between gut microbiota and serum metabolomics is not clear. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the changes in gut microbiota and metabolites in OU. The 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) gene sequencing was used to detect the changes in the composition of gut microbiota in OU rat model. Moreover, the endogenous small metabolites were explored by collecting the non-targeted serum metabolomics data. A total of 34 OU-related biomarkers were identified, mainly related to fatty acid metabolism and inflammatory pathways. The administration of B4 effectively reduced the occurrence of OU and restored the levels of multiple endogenous biomarkers and key gut microbial species to the normal level. This study demonstrated that the gut microbiota and metabolites were altered in the OU rat model, which were significantly restored to the normal level by B4, thereby showing good application prospects in the treatment of OU. KEY POINTS: • The first investigating the correlation between OU and gut microbiota. • A close correlation between metabolites and gut microbiota in OU disease was successfully identified. • Pulchinenoside B4 ameliorates oral ulcers in rats by modulating gut microbiota and metabolites.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Rapid cycling bipolar disorder (RCBD), characterized by four or more episodes per year, is a complex subtype of bipolar disorder (BD) with poorly understood characteristics. METHOD: This multicenter, observational, longitudinal cohort study enrolled 520 BD patients across seven psychiatric institutions in China from January 2013 to January 2014. Participants were divided into RCBD and non-RCBD (NRCBD) groups based on the frequency of mood episodes in the preceding year. Data collection utilized a standardized form, supplemented by a medical record review, focusing on sociodemographic, clinical, and treatment characteristics. Statistical analysis involved independent samples t-tests, Kruskal-Wallis H tests, Chi-square or Fisher's exact tests, with Bonferroni correction applied to account for multiple comparisons, and multivariable logistic regression to identify characteristics associated with RCBD. RESULTS: Among the BD cohort, 9.4% were identified as current RCBD. Compared to NRCBD, RCBD patients had a shorter duration from the first psychiatric consultation to the diagnosis of BD, a reduced duration of their longest period of euthymia, a lower proportion of lifetime hospitalization history due to BD, and less use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) within the last 12 months. Additionally, they presented higher baseline scores on the Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) and the Brief 16-item Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology Self-Report (QIDS-SR16). However, after applying the Bonferroni correction, these differences were not statistically significant. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified three factors that were independently associated with RCBD: time from first psychiatric consultation to BD diagnosis (Odds Ratio [OR] = 0.512, P = 0.0416), lifetime hospitalization history due to BD (OR = 0.516, P = 0.0476), and ECT treatment within the past 12 months (OR = 0.293, P = 0.0472). CONCLUSION: This study revealed that the duration from first psychiatric consultation to BD diagnosis, lifetime hospitalization history due to BD, and ECT treatment in the past year were associated with RCBD. Recognizing these factors could contribute to enhance the early identification and clinical outcomes of RCBD. Trial Registration Number Registry ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01770704. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The association between osteoarthritis (OA) and hypertension is a subject of ongoing debate in observational research, and the underlying causal relationship between them remains elusive. METHODS: This study retrospectively included 24,871 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2013 to 2020. Weighted logistic regression was performed to investigate the connection between OA and hypertension. Additionally, Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted to explore the potential causal relationship between OA and hypertension. RESULTS: In the NHANES data, after adjusting for multiple confounding factors, there was no significant relationship between OA and hypertension (OR 1.30, 95% CI, 0.97-1.73, P = 0.089). However, among males, OA appeared to be associated with a higher risk of hypertension (OR 2.25, 95% CI, 1.17-4.32, P = 0.019). Furthermore, MR results indicate no relationship between multiple OA phenotypes and hypertension: knee OA (IVW, OR 1.024, 95% CI: 0.931-1.126, P = 0.626), hip OA (IVW, OR 0.990, 95% CI: 0.941-1.042, P = 0.704), knee or hip OA (IVW, OR 1.005, 95% CI: 0.915-1.105, P = 0.911), and OA from UK Biobank (IVW, OR 0.796, 95% CI: 0.233-2.714, P = 0.715). Importantly, these findings remained consistent across different genders and in reverse MR. CONCLUSIONS: Our study found that OA patients had a higher risk of hypertension only among males in the observational study. However, MR analysis did not uncover any causal relationship between OA and hypertension.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a highly malignant and fatal liver tumor with increasing incidence worldwide. Lactate metabolism has been recently reported as a crucial contributor to tumor progression and immune regulation in the tumor microenvironment. However, it remains poorly identified about the biological functions of lactate metabolism in iCCA, which hinders the development of prognostic tools and therapeutic interventions. METHODS: The univariate Cox regression analysis and Boruta algorithm were utilized to identify key lactate metabolism-related genes (LMRGs), and a prognostic signature was constructed based on LMRG scores. Genomic variations and immune cell infiltration were evaluated in the high and low LMRG score groups. Finally, the biological functions of key LMRGs were verified with in vitro and in vivo experiments. RESULTS: Patients in the high LMRG score group exhibit a poor prognosis compared to those in the low LMRG score group, with a high frequency of TP53 and KRAS mutations. Moreover, the infiltration and function of NK cells were compromised in the high LMRG score group, consistent with the results from two independent single-cell RNA sequencing datasets and immunohistochemistry of tissue microarrays. Experimental data revealed that lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) knockdown inhibited proliferation and migration in iCCA cell lines and tumor growth in immunocompetent mice. CONCLUSION: Our study revealed the biological roles of LDHA in iCCA and developed a reliable lactate metabolism-related prognostic signature for iCCA, offering promising therapeutic targets for iCCA in the clinic.

RESUMO

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has negative expressions of ER, PR and HER2. Due to the insensitivity to both endocrine therapy and HER2-targeted therapy, the main treatment method for TNBC is cytotoxic chemotherapy. However, the curative effect of chemotherapy is limited because of the existence of acquired or intrinsic multidrug resistance. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are frequently dysregulated in malignant tumors and involved in tumor occurrence and progression. Interestingly, growing studies show that miRNAs are involved in chemoresistance in TNBC. Thus, targeting dysregulated miRNAs could be a plausible way for better treatment of TNBC. Here, we present the updated knowledge of miRNAs associated with chemoresistance in TNBC, which may be helpful for the early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of this life-threatening disease.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer, which is characterized by high rates of invasion, recurrence and distant metastasis. At present, chemotherapy is still the main treatment option for TNBC. However, after some time, the sensitivity of tumor cells to chemotherapeutic drugs gradually decreases, which makes tumor cells develop chemoresistance. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small RNA molecules with length of 1925 nucleotides that do not encode proteins. The expression level of miRNAs in cancer is usually abnormal. More and more studies have shown that miRNAs are involved in cancer development and associated with drug resistance. Therefore, this review summarizes the miRNAs associated with chemoresistance in TNBC.

RESUMO

Objective: Currently, sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is increasingly used in endometrial cancer, but the rate of missed metastatic lymph nodes compared to systemic lymph node dissection has been a concern. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the false negative rate (FNR) of SLNB in patients with endometrial cancer and to explore the risk factors associated with this FNR. Data sources: Three databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science) were searched from initial database build to January 2023 by two independent reviewers. Research eligibility criteria: Studies were included if they included 10 or more women diagnosed with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage I or higher endometrial cancer, the study technique used sentinel lymph node localization biopsy, and the reported outcome metrics included false negative and/or FNR. Study appraisal and synthesis methods: Two authors independently reviewed the abstracts and full articles. The FNR and factors associated with FNR were synthesized through random-effects meta-analyses and meta-regression. The results: We identified 62 eligible studies. The overall FNR for the 62 articles was 4% (95% CL 3-5).There was no significant difference in the FNR in patients with high-risk endometrial cancer compared to patients with low-risk endometrial cancer. There was no difference in the FNR for whether frozen sections were used intraoperatively. The type of dye used intraoperatively (indocyanine green/blue dye) were not significantly associated with the false negative rate. Cervical injection reduced the FNR compared with alternative injection techniques. Indocyanine green reduced the FNR compared with alternative Tc-99m. Postoperative pathologic ultrastaging reduced the FNR. Conclusions: Alternative injection techniques (other than the cervix), Tc-99m dye tracer, and the absence of postoperative pathologic ultrastaging are risk factors for a high FNR in endometrial cancer patients who undergo SLNB; therefore, we should be vigilant for missed diagnosis of metastatic lymph nodes after SLNB in such populations. RESUMO

Three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography is an emerging technique for assessing right ventricular (RV) volume and function, but 3D-RV normal values from a large Chinese population are still lacking. The aim of the present study was to establish normal values of 3D-RV volume and function in healthy Chinese volunteers. A total of 1117 Han Chinese volunteers from 28 laboratories in 20 provinces of China were enrolled, and 3D-RV images of 747 volunteers with optimal image quality were ultimately analyzed by a core laboratory. Both vendor-dependent and vendor-independent software platforms were used to analyze the 3D-RV images. We found that men had larger RV volumes than women did in the whole population, even after indexing to body surface area, and older individuals had smaller RV volumes. The normal RV volume was significantly smaller than that recommended by the American Society of Echocardiography/European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging guidelines in both sexes. There were significant differences in 3D-RV measurements between the two vendor ultrasound systems and the different software platforms. The echocardiographic measurements in normal Chinese adults II study revealed normal 3D-RV volume and function in a large Chinese population, and there were significant differences between the sexes, ages, races, and vendor groups. Thus, normal 3D-RV values should be stratified by sex, age, race, and vendor.

RESUMO

Background: Elderly hospitalized patients often have dysphagia, which can cause a variety of complications, the most common being aspiration. Early detection and timely treatment by nurses are needed in the clinic. Objective: To assess the effect of the situational simulation teaching method in respiratory and cardiac arrest induced by aspiration in elderly patients. Design: This was a retrospective study. Setting: This study was performed in the Department of Geriatrics, The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University. Participants: Fifty patients with aspiration-induced respiratory and cardiac arrest who were hospitalized in our hospital were chosen and divided into 2 groups according to the composition of rescue nursing staff, and each group had 25 cases. Interventions: The patients who were rescued by nurses without scenario simulation training were the control group (routine emergency nursing group). The patients who were rescued by nurses trained via the scenario simulation teaching method were the experimental group. Primary Outcome Measures: (1) Emergency rescue time, (2) survival rate, (3) duration of adverse events, and (4) nursing satisfaction of patients. Results: Compared to the control group, the emergency rescue time, the duration of asphyxia, duration of respiratory and cardiac arrest, and the duration of malignant arrhythmias caused by cardiac arrest in the experimental group was lower (P < .05), while the survival rate and nursing satisfaction of patients in the experimental group was higher (P < .05). Conclusion: The application of situational simulation teaching method in the rescue of patients with respiratory and cardiac arrest has outstanding effects, which can effectively improve the efficiency of first aid, significantly improve the efficiency and standardization of first aid, and control or prevent the occurrence of poor prognosis, which is worth popularizing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) has been developed to stage liver fibrosis. However, its diagnostic performance is inconsistent among studies. Therefore, it is worth studying the diagnostic value of various diffusion models for liver fibrosis in one cohort. AIM: To evaluate the clinical potential of six diffusion-weighted models in liver fibrosis staging and compare their diagnostic performances. METHODS: This prospective study enrolled 59 patients suspected of liver disease and scheduled for liver biopsy and 17 healthy participants. All participants underwent multi-b value DWI. The main DWI-derived parameters included Mono-apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) from mono-exponential DWI, intravoxel incoherent motion model-derived true diffusion coefficient (IVIM-D), diffusion kurtosis imaging-derived apparent diffusivity (DKI-MD), stretched exponential model-derived distributed diffusion coefficient (SEM-DDC), fractional order calculus (FROC) model-derived diffusion coefficient (FROC-D) and FROC model-derived microstructural quantity (FROC-µ), and continuous-time random-walk (CTRW) model-derived anomalous diffusion coefficient (CTRW-D) and CTRW model-derived temporal diffusion heterogeneity index (CTRW-α). The correlations between DWI-derived parameters and fibrosis stages and the parameters' diagnostic efficacy in detecting significant fibrosis (SF) were assessed and compared. RESULTS: CTRW-D (r = -0.356), CTRW-α (r = -0.297), DKI-MD (r = -0.297), FROC-D (r = -0.350), FROC-µ (r = -0.321), IVIM-D (r = -0.251), Mono-ADC (r = -0.362), and SEM-DDC (r = -0.263) were significantly correlated with fibrosis stages. The areas under the ROC curves (AUCs) of the combined index of the six models for distinguishing SF (0.697-0.747) were higher than each of the parameters alone (0.524-0.719). The DWI models' ability to detect SF was similar. The combined index of CTRW model parameters had the highest AUC (0.747). CONCLUSION: The DWI models were similarly valuable in distinguishing SF in patients with liver disease. The combined index of CTRW parameters had the highest AUC.
